Your CEO has had you sharpen your pencils and charge your laptops in preparation for this task.
Remember your company was chosen to compete because of your understanding of the problems New Jersey faced. There is some basic information that your CEO will need you to provide before you proceed. Each individual will be required to research the answers to the following questions and e-mail the answers to the CEO:
- What is the Highlands?
- How are the Highlands defined environmentally and geographically?
- What is the history of the Highlands area?
- Why is the Highlands such a significant area in terms of its aquatic and terrestrial resources, development potential, agricultural and recreational resources?
- Why did New Jersey create and pass the Highlands Act? Identify the critical issues that resulted in New Jersey taking a regional approach to land use planning on this scale?
Once your CEO is satisfied that you have enough background information you will be assigned to become a member of team of experts to study a particular set of problems. Answer the questions listed under your assigned area of expertise. The more details your team provides in your answers, the more support you will have for your recommendations, and the better chance your consulting company will have of being selected by the NYHAB. If your company is selected, the more favorable your CEO will be to giving you a big bonus.
