1. From an economics perspective, whom do you see as the winners and losers of the Xanadu deal? Explain in some detail the perspective of each stakeholder. In what ways could Xanadu be restructured/tinkered so that the deal is a win/win for more stakeholders?

2. From a sustainability perspective, is Xanadu as sustainable as it could be? What aspects of sustainability are represented by the Xanadu project? What else could be done from an economics or other perspective to make Xanadu a unique model of sustainability? In what ways could Xanadu still fall short?

3. What can eco-tourism do for the Meadowlands? Who is involved, what are they doing, and what suggestions do you have for them?

4. Could eco-tourism become a major economic sector in the Meadowlands, or is it more of a boutique, small niche business? What are the ways to link ecotourism to Xanadu?

5. Besides eco-tourism and green design, what other forms of environmentally- friendly development strategies are not being utilized, but have potential both for Xanadu and the region?

Your team must submit your detailed answers to the CEO. If they are satisfactory, your team will get the nod and the thumbs up to proceed.

Your team will then formulate three recommendations for the creation of Xanau and present them at the public meeting.

Remember:

Your team will have about 15 minutes of the 30 allotted for your construction company.

  • Your presentation should address the anticipated objections in their area about Xanadu, using the information from the questions you answered.
  • Your presentation will be made to the mighty Mills Corporation, the Meadowlands Commission, and supporters and opponents of the project.
  • A question and answer session will follow the presentations.

The construction company judged to do the best job will win the subcontractor business and go home with enough money to burn a hole in their pockets.

May the Best Team Win! Good Luck!
