Task

The Mills Corporation is presently asking five construction companies to submit their proposals to do work as a subcontractor in two specific areas of Xanadu’s construction to determine which will do the best job of making their dream a reality. Since more than one construction company will be vying for the same subcontractor business competition will be fierce. However, always in the background is the loud voice of the NJ Meadowlands Commission repeating over and over “We care what happens today, We care what happens tomorrow”. It would seem the Mills Corporation will not be able to do anything they want. If Mills is smart, they will try to show how their final plans meet the region’s sustainability goals – while still gaining approval to build Xanadu. The five construction firms in competition for making the big bucks on the project are:

· Bang Bang Construction Consultants; Ms. Toolie T. Rifick, CEO

· Bigger Better Building Consultants; Mr. Jack Hammer, CEO

· Let Us Level With U Building Consultants; Mr. Chris Cross Saw, CEO

· Erections Are Us Building Consultants; Dr. Sandi Paper, CEO

· Construction By Destruction Building Consultants; Mr. Alan Wrench, CEO

Each of the five construction companies has met with the CEO of the mighty Mills Corporation, Mr. I. M. Daboss and has indicated which two areas of building Xanadu they will be competing for as the subcontractor. The CEO has asked that each construction company make a 30-minute presentation containing a series of recommendations about their two chosen areas of building Xanadu.

The presentation must include how best to address any two of the following areas:

· Issues of economics

· Transportation in the area

· Building design

· Environmental impacts

· Waste management to meet Mr. I.M. Daboss’s expectations

All your hard work will go down the drain, if your company’s recommendations don’t satisfy the opponents of the project and the New Jersey Meadowland Commission’s commitment to sustainability for the area.

Competition for having your construction company’s recommendations be the ones selected by the Mill’s Group and winning your construction company the work subcontracting will be intense.
