  TASK

The coalition of groups has hired your environmental consulting firm to deliver testimony for the mercury hearing to develop a mercury pollution reduction plan for the State. In order to accomplish this task your consulting company must:

1. Inventory and assess current sources of mercury pollution to the extent feasible, including both Ramford County and regional sources of mercury pollution.

2. Review the current science on mercury deposition, transport, and exposure pathways.

3. Review the current science on the impacts of mercury pollution on public health and ecosystems.

4. Review existing mercury pollution policies in other states and in the US.

5. Review strategies for clean up and reduction of exposure to mercury.

The State Legislature has set the format of the hearing: the consulting company will prepare and present a FIVE MINUTE summary on EACH of the five points listed above. During the presentation the speaker(s) will focus on the most important concerns of the groups that have hired them. After each presentation members of the Congressional Committee can ask a maximum of THREE QUESTIONS.

** The Congressional Committee should have at least 4 members, it can be composed of teachers or students.
