Task - Option A
Your president has not yet signed the U.S. College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment.
Your class will take the role of a Campus Climate Solutions Committee.
Your task is to develop a convincing, data-driven, comprehensive feasibility study that makes the strongest possible case that the president should sign the commitment to lead the campus to be carbon neutral as soon as possible following the guidelines and the timetables in the USCUPCC.
Your class will:
- Develop a proposal to convince the president that your college should do a climate neutral feasibility study.
- Make a 30 minute presentation to the President of your institution on your proposal addressing what is required to reduce campus heat-trapping gasses and spurring campus action to achieve it.
Include answers to the following Five Sets of Task Questions in your study. Your Carbon Offsets subcommittee will make a15 minute presentation to the Campus Climate Solutions Committee (your class.)
The presentation must include:
- the information that will be included in written proposal the the presentation to your president
- three recommendations to reduce campus heat-trapping gasses for inclusion in the proposal and presentation to your president
- also include some type of professional presentation tool, or at least describe how you would use one if it were available (transparencies, slides, photographs, handouts or on-screen presentation such as Power Point.)
After all subcommittees have reported, the Campus Climate Solutions Committee (your class) will draft the proposal and the 30 minute presentation for your president.
