Introduction

Here’s where you come in! Your institution of higher education can make an important contribution to this effort by joining the U.S. College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment.

Presently 478 presidents of higher education institutions in the U.S. have signed.
This commitment is to make the college campus “carbon-neutral” through a combination of efficiency and conservation measures and the purchase of renewable energy and “carbon credits” to offset what you can’t reduce.

The combined efforts of higher education institutions across the country can significantly reduce heat-trapping emissions, and just as importantly, inspire, give guidance and set an example for millions of other Americans to take effective action.

The results of your work on this problem can make an important contribution to helping your campus become carbon-neutral.
