Orange & Rockland has funded our project – Mobile Food Lab – STEM Activities in four Bergen County school districts for the 2019-2020 school year; Allendale, Mahwah, Oakland and Ramsey.  The project has a goal of improving student understanding of experimental science; human physiology; plant science; and the chemistry and biology that are the basis of nutrition. The Mobile Food Lab (MFL) brings the “field trip” to schools allowing students to take part in STEM activities without travelling. The grant is supporting visits from the Mobile Food Lab to schools in these districts.  In one day we provide instruction for 60-70 students.  The MEC staff has delivered activities focused on discovery through hands-on learning to students from Joyce Kilmer school in Mahwah in November. We are looking forward to meeting the students in Ramsey’s Hubbard and Tisdale schools in January.
